A year ago, we were invited via Twitter to go on the final CircleTrek Walking Tour of University Circle (@InTheCircle - #CircleTrek) for 2015. We really wanted to go, but unfortunately we had a conflict.
We have been very busy in 2016, and it feels like suddenly it is one year later. Luckily, we saw a tweet announcing the "...final FREE #CircleTrek guided walking tour of the season," and Julie signed us up to attend!
FREE Guided Walking Tours of University Circle!
Explore the past, present, and future of historic, picturesque University Circle. The tours will cover 16 stops over approximately 2 miles, beginning at the Wade Oval Information Center and ending at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Tours are FREE, thanks to the support from Motorcars in Cleveland Heights.

- Departing at 10:30 a.m, from the Wade Oval Information Center (10820 East Boulevard)
It was a brisk morning on Saturday, October 22, 2016, when we found ourselves with a group of other people interested in learning about our city's University Circle. We were told that this last tour of the year was quite like the first one back in May -- a cool, crisp morning -- but unlike in May, many more people were gathered for this final tour. The tours are free, thanks to the support from Motorcars in Cleveland Heights (@motorcarscle).

They continue on to show how Stuart spent his afternoon at the Cleveland Museum of Art (@ClevelandArt). Family Connections
As we were on the tour, we kept finding personal and family connections. This made the tour more interesting to us, as we personally related to the history and current developments of Cleveland's University Circle.

Hearing about how Case Western Reserve University (@CWRU ) was formed in 1967 by the merger of Case Institute of Technology and Western Reserve University, we remembered that Stuart's grandfather was a trustee for the University and chairman of their fundraising campaign.

We enjoyed seeing the buildings where we took classes at CWRU.

We fondly remembered when our son earned honorable mention in the 2012 Hessler Street Fair poetry contest, and his many years of being published in the Hessler Street Fair Poetry Anthology.

Julie recognized one of the tour leaders, Bob. He played the part of historical figure Levi Johnson in the Warehouse District "Take a Hike" Cleveland tour, about which we recently wrote.

Learning about the recent developments in Uptown Cleveland (@UptownCle), we remembered how we wrote a blog post about attending the opening of the Corner Alley Uptown (@CornerAlleyUC).

On the tour, we were told about Toby's Plaza, located in Uptown Cleveland (@UptownCle) near the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland - MOCA (@MOCACleveland), and named in honor of Toby Devan Lewis. Years ago, Stuart worked with Toby Devan Lewis on a fundraising event which featured art from the Progressive Insurance collection (@Progressive). Because of this, we were familiar with Toby Devan Lewis's support of the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland (@MOCACleveland). We learned on the tour that Toby Devan Lewis is also a board member of the Cleveland Museum of Art (@ClevelandArt).

- After the tour, Stuart spent the afternoon viewing artwork, including the pieces that inspired him in his Cleveland Museum of Art classes as a teenager, and more recently, at the Museum'sannual Chalk Festivals.
