We are posting our photos and sharing Stuart's @sos_jr tweets from the day as a way of thanking the following University Circle museums (@InTheCircle) that opened their doors for free for the Cleveland Holiday CircleFest 2013. Just as we wrote in our blog post about the Cleveland Winterfest, the best part of the Cleveland Holiday CircleFest is that most all of what we saw is still happening in Cleveland's University Circle through the end of the year. If you missed this event, you can still go to the circle for winter activities.

Cleveland Museum Natural History (@goCMNH)
Ice carvings of dinosaur and wolf -- live animals in outdoor exhibits -- special dog sled demo by Siberian Husky Club of Greater Cleveland -- We have a great time each year visiting this museum at the Holiday CircleFest. We learned from a friend who works at the museum that they may have a special membership offer during this time of year. Contact the museum of you are interested in membership information.

Western Reserve Historical Society (@wrhs_history - @CLEcarousel)
As members of Euclid Beach Park Now, Kevin and Julie are very interested in the Euclid Beach Park Carousel which will open in 2014. You can read about Kevin's display at the 9th Annual Remembering the Sights and Sounds of Euclid Beach Park in the Collinwood Observer (@CollinwoodNews). (Note that the Euclid Beach Park Now and the Cleveland Euclid Beach Carousel Society websites were built at Cleveland Give Camp 2011. Cleveland Institute of Music (@cim_edu)
We enjoyed a young musician's performance on the cello while at the Institute. It is interesting how every organization we visit in University Circle brings up a different connection. When visiting CIM, Stuart remembered working on set construction for an Opera his cousin directed at the Cleveland Institute of Music years ago.

Cleveland Botanical Garden (@cbgarden)
The annual holiday decorated gingerbread houses are a real treat to see each year. We talked to a friend of ours from the Garden, and were told that the gingerbread houses will be on display until January 5th as part of their Glow program. Contact the Garden for details. We saw the "Garden Express" train for the first time this year, which looked like a lot of fun for kids.

We always enjoy the annual lantern procession as the climax of the Cleveland Holiday CircleFest.

University Circle (@InTheCircle) - Wade Oval Winter
The first thing we saw when we arrived at University Circle was Santa ice skating on the Rink at Wade Oval. It set a festive mood for the Holiday CircleFest. We ended our evening back at the rink watching the skaters under the snowflake lights. We have learned that the Wade Oval Winter activities continue through March 9, 2014. We will need to come back for more!
