Fine Arts Garden
Children and adults enjoy this annual event where community members join professional artists in using the walkways around the Fine Arts Garden as a colorful canvas. Begun in 1990, our festival is a modern expression of a Renaissance tradition from 16th-century Italy in which beggars copied paintings of the Madonna by Raphael and his contemporaries using chalk on the plazas outside cathedrals. Watching the chalk artists and enjoying the entertainment is free.

The Chalk Festival is always so beautiful and joyous!— Shannon Eichorn (@ShannonEichorn) September 7, 2021
. . . therefore, I was very disappointed that a spur-of-the-moment trip south to take care of some family business prevented me from attending on Saturday, September 11, 2021.
I asked people on the Cleveland Twitterverse to share on Twitter their photos from the 2021 Cleveland Chalk Festival, so that I could at least attend an online version of the Chalk Festival.
(Note: In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 31st Chalk Festival was a virtual event. Therefore, I knew that people are great at sharing if they are asked. See my blog post: #CMAChalkFestival Social Distancing Style: Cleveland Museum of Art's Virtual Chalk Festival 2020)
I normally go to @ClevelandArt #CMAChalkFestival every year! https://t.co/K57uwJn8lm I recommend it!— Stuart O. Smith, Jr. - sosAssociates.com (@sos_jr) September 11, 2021

When @Dana_Castrigano invited me to the Chalk Festival at the Cleveland Art Museum, I didn’t know what I’d make. Then I asked myself what would my students most want to see and the decision was obvious. pic.twitter.com/8MECY9sxTV— Art With Mrs. Ball (@artwithmrsball) September 11, 2021
Knowing how disappointed I was to be missing the 2021 Cleveland Museum of Art Chalk Festival, my son, Kevin F. Smith, made a point to go to the museum to share on Twitter his favorite drawings. THANK YOU, KEVIN!!

A good thing to remember every year is that you can visit the Cleveland Museum of Art's Fine Arts Garden for a few days after the Chalk Festival to see the artwork (unless it rains).
Did you miss the Chalk Festival yesterday? Go for a stroll around the Fine Arts Garden, the art is still "on view"! https://t.co/QPA0uEuGRT— clevelandart (@ClevelandArt) September 12, 2021

As I was writing this my tenth Cleveland Chalk Festival blog post on September 17, 2021, it was great to be reminded by my "Facebook Memories" of the fun I in past years at the Chalk Festival. That is why I create my "Chalk Festival" blog posts -- so I can see the artwork from past years again.

A BIG THANK YOU to Judy Beveridge and Stacy McGaugh for sharing with me on the Twitterverse their additional photos from the September 11, 2021, Cleveland Museum of Art Chalk Festival! It is interesting that they both shared a chalk drawing of a dragon.
Please take a look at the following, and please share their photos by retweeting:
Here is a photo shared by Stacy McGaugh that I missed from the date of the Chalk Festival on September 11, 2021:

2019 was the last time I attended in person. It was a very special year, since it celebrated the 30th year of the Cleveland Museum of Art Chalk Festival. The reason I mention it here is that Judy Beveridge made a special chalk drawing in 2019 to commemorate the museum's 30th Chalk Festival, which I featured in my blog post:
