PechaKucha Night Cleveland: Untold Lakefront Stories & Announcement of Lakefront's Future

PechaKucha Night Cleveland: Untold Lakefront Stories & Announcement of Lakefront's Future

On October 29, 2023, I started writing this blog post, but I was delayed in finishing it until the middle of December due to another family emergency and some back-end work on my sosAssociates.com website. I am glad that I have now completed this blog post, since the topic presented is part of a long-term trend I have written about in the past. It deals with the important work of improving the City of Cleveland's (and this region's) waterfront and park systems. The plan presented is very long-term, so I wanted to capture today's ideas, and compare them with the future reality.

PechaKucha Night Cleveland - Volume 39 - Untold Lakefront Stories took place on October 20, 2023, at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Cleveland's NorthCoast Harbor.

This particular PechaKucha Night Cleveland was very unique!! It first presented the interesting history of Cleveland's Lakefront from a variety of cultural viewpoints, and then showed how the future will build on this past as outlined in the newly updated Cleveland’s North Coast Master Plan.

I also include in this blog post what was recently shared at follow-up presentations that took place after PechaKucha Night Cleveland Untold Lakefront Stories. We are fortunate that so much was shared online from these follow-up events.

The following are the sections of this blog post:

I hope to look back at this blog post in future years after the project is completed and I am standing on the lakeshore enjoying the new lakefront of Cleveland.

Rock Hall Community Celebration 2018

Rock Hall Community Celebration 2018

On April 7, 2018, after a busy morning at the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy 2018 Opening Day for Trails - Cleveland, and spending the afternoon at the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland Free First Saturday, I continued the fun with an exciting evening at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

A BIG shout-out to PNC Bank! In addition to sponsoring this free day at Cleveland's Rock Hall, they also sponsored the MOCA Free First Saturday that I enjoyed this afternoon.

There was so much happening at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame that night, including concerts, fireworks, food, entertainment, and free entrance to the museum. I want to commend the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame staff how they did a good job handling the large crowds. They kept the lines moving, and provided entertainment and activities to keep people engaged.

2017 North Coast Harbor Ice Fest and Free Martin Luther King, Jr., Day at Science Center and Rock Hall

2017 North Coast Harbor Ice Fest, and Science Center and Rock Hall Free for MLK Day

We have really enjoyed attending the North Coast Harbor Ice Fest in the past, but normally only came to the event in the evening to see the final ice sculptures. If you have never seen the beautiful carved ice lit up at night, you really should.

This year, the Ice Fest took place on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Monday, January 16, 2017. It was combined with the annual free admission to two great Cleveland institutions for the MLK holiday -- Great Lakes Science Center and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum -- that are located on North Coast Harbor.

The Ice Fest was located between the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and the Great Lakes Science Center. The Cleveland Ice Fest at North Coast Harbor is a great event -- worth taking the time to visit!

IngenuityFest 2015: Marriage of Cleveland Arts & Technology | Hingetown Hoedown

IngenuityFest Weekend 2015!

I have been writing blog posts about Ingenuity Cleveland's IngenuityFest since 2012, and attending long before that. IngenuityFest is the perfect marriage of my interests in arts and technology.

Cleveland Technology + Art = IngenuityFest Weekend 2015!

I went to all three days, October 2-4, of IngenuityFest 2015. I am sharing my photos and tweets from the weekend in this blog post as my way of thanking all the presenters. I made a point of talking to many artists in their installations, and local tech leaders at their booths. I can't include everyone I spoke to, but will mention a few in this post.

I have also included my tweets from the inaugural Hingetown Hoedown, which took place Saturday night. It was incredible to see so many people attend this first-time event!
