We were looking forward to the November 4, 2016, PechaKucha Night Akron Volume 5 (@PKAkron). From past experience, we knew that PechaKucha Night events were always interesting, and because Stuart had heard of The Bit Factory (@TheBitFactory), but had never visited it. We were rewarded for our attendance with:

  • Interesting talks using the fast-paced PechaKucha format.

    Wikipedia's definition of PechaKucha:

PechaKucha (Japanese: ペチャクチャ, IPA: [petɕa ku͍̥tɕa],[1] chit-chat) is a presentation style in which 20 slides are shown for 20 seconds each (6 minutes and 40 seconds in total). The format, which keeps presentations concise and fast-paced, powers multiple-speaker events called PechaKucha Nights (PKNs).[2][3]

  • The opportunity to see the interesting space of the Akron startup accelerator called The Bit Factory, which was created out of an old industrial building. We enjoyed seeing how the space has been repurposed for the current needs of their members, and look forward to learning more about what they do.

  • A surprise -- an exhibit of art from Akron Soul Train (@AkronSoulTrain) -- see photos and tweet below. We suggest you learn about this residential artists’ village, which is being created from refurbished shipping containers: AkronSoulTrain.org

In addition to learning more about PechaKucha Night Akron on their website, we recommend following @PKAkron on Twitter, and Facebook.com/PKAkron for announcements, articles, and photos of interest.

Here is the official PechaKucha Night Akron Volume 5 announcement from their website. It includes a list of the speakers and sponsors.

On a personal note, Stuart has been asked to speak at the first-ever "PechaKucha Night Cleveland Past Presenter Happy Hour" on November 29, 2016. Stuart's PechaKucha presentation will be about why we are so supportive of PechaKucha Night and what value we gain from attending.
