CDPUG iMac Pro Video Briefing at Apple Eton

I highly recommend both the monthly Cleveland Digital Publishing Users Group - CDPUG meetings (the final Thursday of most months), and also the special field trips that they plan. Spike Radway, the founder and program director of CDPUG, always recruits great presenters for the meetings.

It was great to start the month of May with a special field trip to the Apple Eton Store to learn from both Erica Brenner of Erica Brenner Productions, LLC, and Bill Baraona of Flex Media about video editing.

"Eight Days a Week" of Fun

"Eight Days a Week" of Fun

A flurry of activity! In late April and early May of 2018, I had eight busy days of activities! I originally created this as one single blog post listing all nine events, but later decided to publish nine posts to make it easier to find for my website visitors to read.

I still think of it as one post that I hope will not only give you insight into my eight-day week, but more importantly, encourage you to support these organizations with your presence at future events.

CDPUG Tour of Cuyahoga County Public Library's New Innovation Center

Cuyahoga County Public Library Innovation Center

I have attended the grand opening of the Cleveland Public Library TechCentral MakerSpace. The technology center staff at the Akron Public Library gave me a tour during the Akron Maker Faire. Now, I am pleased to be able to write about the Cuyahoga County Public Library's new Innovation Center at their Garfield Heights Branch. I was fortunate to be part of a special orientation tour given to members of the Cleveland Digital Publishing Users Group (CDPUG) for their March 31, 2016, meeting.

WebSigCleveland.org Featured in CBC Magazine

Cleveland Business Connects Magazine’s September 2012 issue has the overall theme of information technology and social media in Cleveland. An article, "Networking 2.0: Techies Harness the Power of Continual Education," was written about WebSigCleveland.org and its partner organizations, the Greater Cleveland PC Users Group and the Cleveland Digital Publishing Users Group. These groups are headed by Jim Evans and Remington Phillips, respectively.

The article focuses on how these three Cleveland organizations provide face-to-face technology education. I love the title of the article, since I am a big supporter of continual education. This has led me to not only become the administrator of WebSigCleveland.org, but also to create my sosAssociates.com blog, which supports technology education groups in our community.

Presentation Skills for the Graphic Designer

CDPUG Presentation Skills for the Graphic Designer

When attending the April 26, 2012, Cleveland Digital Publishing Users Group meeting led by Spike Radway on Presentation Skills for the Graphic Designer, who would have thought I would be truly surprised . . . but I am getting ahead of myself . . .

The purpose of this meeting was to have Spike provide the tools to those attending to be prepared to do an Ignite presentation. CDPUG has a great practice of starting their meetings with a member sharing their design work using the Ignite presentation method at their monthly meetings, but for this meeting, the focus was the upcoming 8th Annual CDPUG Showcase on May 31, 2012.

Web Font Design: You Don't Have To Be Angry Anymore
March 29, 2012

In December 2011, Jan Dregalla and I were asked to do a presentation on how to use web fonts. This font design meeting was an outgrowth of a talk that two other CDPUG members and I did on January 27, 2011, called "Web Design, HTML and Beyond." At the end of the January 2011 meeting, there were many questions about the lack of control of fonts on websites, so CDPUG Program Director Spike Radway (@SpikeRadway) solicited our assistance to present: Web Font Design: You Don't Have To Be Angry Anymore
