A BIG thank-you to Summit Artspace (@AkronAreaArts) for reaching out on Twitter and recommending I visit the Summit Artspace gallery as part of the High Arts Festival Akron 2018 finale celebration (#HighArtsFest in #DowntownAkron) on Saturday, October 6, 2018.

I already knew about the Akron High Arts Festival, and had it in my weekend calendar along with other local fun activities. Thanks to the tweet from Summit Artspace, followed by a Twitter direct message with some great information from Downtown Akron Partnership (@DowntownAkron), I knew I had to attend this event!

Pre-Event Tweets

Here are my @sos_jr tweets and retweets that I shared leading up to the event. They give you information about the High Arts Festival.

Akron Art Prize Grows to become High Arts Festival!

After 2016, the Akron Art Prize became the High Arts Festival!

I wrote a blog post about and attended the Akron Art Prize 2016. At this 2016 event, I enjoyed seeing all the Akron Art Prize entries at Summit Artspace (@AkronAreaArts), and then attending the awards reception at the Akron Art Museum (@AkronArtMuseum). I am grateful that @DowntownAkron sent me a Twitter direct message on October 5, 2018, explaining the history of how the Akron Art Prize evolved to become the High Arts Festival. The support of the Peg's Foundation (formerly the Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation) (@PegsFoundation) for the Akron Art Prize was joined by funding from the Knight Foundation (@knightfdn) and others, to expand beyond the visual arts in 2017.

I love how the High Arts Festival logo reflects how this Akron event has grown to not only include the Visual Arts, but also Music, Film, and the Literary Arts!

Since I only attended the High Arts Festival Akron 2018 Final Day and Finale Celebration, my blog post only captures a small slice of the total activities of this multi-day event that was held this year from Friday, September 14th, to Saturday, October 6th.

Since Summit Artspace (@AkronAreaArts) mentioned in their tweet that their website was "inspired and rewired" by Cleveland GiveCamp (@CleGiveCamp), I wanted to take this opportunity to recommend learning more about this great resource for Cleveland and Akron nonprofits. Go to the ClevelandGiveCamp.org nonprofit web page to sign up to be notified when the nonprofit application process starts in spring 2019.

See all my Cleveland GiveCamp blog posts for more details about the past events. I am on the Cleveland GiveCamp Steering Committee, and manage the ClevelandGiveCamp.org website and some of the social media accounts.
